The Lebanese superstar, Haifa Wehbe هيفاء وهبي, is one of the most popular names online and according to McAfee’s research is the most dangerous Arabic celebrity. McAfee, the security company, found that Haifa Wehbe’s هيفا وهبي name was used most often to attract web surfers to websites that were attempting to place malicious software on the surfer’s computer such as spyware, adware, or spam.

Wael Kfoury was found to be the second most unsafe celebrity name. Paris Hilton was named the most dangerous worldwide.

These websites are used to spread harmful software onto users with no protection against the spyware, adware, or spam. Due to the overall interest of these celebrities, people may be tricked into signing up for spam. Some of these malicious sites even go to the extent of stealing identities through the use of the personal details users may offer when they visit the websites.

McAfee is now offering a SiteAdvisor software for free via download. It is a means to warn users about some of the dangerous websites as they surf. The company monitors and stores information about millions of websites. They will flag the user if they enter a site that had been reported as being unsafe.

The regional director for McAfee, Patrick Hayati stated that they have found all types of security threats through the use of celebrity names. He went on to say it is the easiest way to attract visitors and that they are monitoring tens of millions of sites to assess their safety for the average web surfer.
